Description
A young Heron (Ardea cinerea) which let me photograph him yesterday in Kew Gardens London.
This is not cropped, I really was this close (about 5 or 6 meters). I started shooting from about 3 times this distance and keeping as low as I could gradually edged forward. The bird seemed curious but never frightened. When I finally turned and walked away he was still there.
Although I had my camera on a tripod and had plenty of time I had a hard time exposing this correctly due to the bright light on the heron and the dark background. I fiddled with the shutter speed whilst keeping the focus tight and eventually got this. I have done very little processing.

Nice shot. Must of been different shooting from the hip.
