Lara on the Akamas, Cyprus. This is a protected and monitored Turtle egg laying site, one of the few in the mediterranean. Two types of turtle lay here, the Green turtle and the Loggerhead Turtle.
I was photographing in a different spot with a view along the coast and into the hills which I had made a photographic note of a few days earlier. After the best of the light had been absorbed onto the sensor in my camera I packed up, threw my gear into the 4x4 and raced along rough dirt tracks towards this destination. The light was getting lower but I knew that all I needed was an afterglow in the sky and had a good idea that I would get one due to the cirrus clouds above the horizon. I had not yet been down onto this beach but had spotted it earlier in the day. In the falling light I found a path down and running most of the way whilst setting up a tripod I reached this scene in time to make a few exposures.
