Reaching Out

OK, this is an updated file which I have reprocessed from scratch. I have taken on board much of the great advise I recieved on this image. I have given it a more accurate white balance which I feel has corrected the cast given by the filter I used. I have removed the noise properly this time and made a real effort with the masking work for that noise reduction.

Kimmerage Bay, Dorset, UK.
319sec at f8. B+W ND 1000 (10 stop), Lee Grad ND 0.9 (3 stop).

Unfortunately this was still underexposed by at least a stop (to expose it by another stop would have taken as long again and given me an exposure time of 638 sec!!!). I have had to brighten it within Lightroom which showed up the noise in the long exposure. I then selectively removed the noise from the areas where it was most obvious (sky, water, shadows) whilst attempting to keep some detail in the foreground.

My regrets with this shot are the underexposure and the distracting dark rock on the rhs of the frame. I must get a better grip on exposing with this filter on the lens.....

Oh, and Alex wasn't happy with my sharpening so I have used his brilliant method now. Yes it is better than mine.
