Thanks Steve. Actually my preference for mountain shots is to take them from ground level. Alex was all up for climbing them and as fun as that was I would have liked to shoot more of the region like this...Next time eh?
yeah makes sense, your limited once your that high up, Alex has very particular shots in mind, if i was with you i would have dragged you all over the place, im toying with a quick recce up to the outer hebredies in August but of course ill keep ya posted.....
looking nice as it is to me mate, presumably any nightmare you're having is with blending? looks well done and nicely balanced. if you're looking for more to process though I might suggest a slight lift to the foreground shadows on the shore and the darker rocks, just a touch... if you can be arsed there's a little bit of red/cyan fringing on the leftmost peak too anyway lovely light and nicely composed, very pretty view!
I didn't... but I have just now just to see... tried it with a gradient mask to just adjust the bottom of the frame and didn't like it much, but as a subtle all-over adjustment I think bringing up the shadows juuust a touch improves it slightly.. kind of splitting hairs though!
To be honest, I really like this image. The tonality in the rocks is amazing, it has good contrast and the composition is working. The only things is that it appears you have lost some detail in the brightest parts of the clouds.
